Manifest is a supernatural drama television series created by Jeff Rake. The final season (Season 4) aired on Netflix on November 4, 2022. Let’s discuss Episode 9 of Manifest called “Rendezvous”. Joining me (Rike) are Mandy, Anna Maria and Evi. Are you ready for this one? Let’s go then, but don’t forget to fasten your seatbelt before starting to read this.
Q: Did you ever think about the Death Date not just being for the passengers, but also being the date for the Apocalypse itself?
R: No, definitely not. This whole lifeboat situation made me think it’s truly just for the passengers. I didn’t think about an apocalypse. That wasn’t on my bingo card, to be honest with you. This is getting worse every episode.
M: This truly blew my mind. I was so confused for a hot minute. At first I wondered, do they now mean for the people around them who know of the callings? But I did not see the ‘we have to save the entire world’ plot twist coming. I thought it was for the passengers itself, or at least for the people around them, maybe, but not the entire world.
A: No, I never thought that was an option. It makes the whole thing worse, and even more important, that the Stones and our main characters find a way to prevent it from happening.
E: No, absolutely not. I really thought it was just for the passengers. Adrian (Jared Grimes) said it multiple times in previous episodes, so maybe he’s the one who’s right about all this. I never expected the whole situation to be that big.
Q: Eagan (Ali Lopez-Sohaili) steals the sapphire, and in the end someone steals it from him. Who could it be?
R: I’m not surprised Eagan took the sapphire and tried to use it for his own good. However, this didn’t work out for a long time. The only other bad person I know is Angelina (Holly Taylor). She would do everything under her control to get some advantage and power. This won’t end well. I can already tell you that.
M: Not surprised with Eagan stealing it. Not surprised at all. It’s such an Eagan move. He annoys me so much sometimes with actions like these. It could be someone we haven’t met yet, but I don’t think so. We have one big bad villain, Angelina. I don’t think they’d introduce another big bad villain this season, with 10/11 episodes remaining. So my money is on Angelina. She’s done more crazy stuff, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this is her idea of ‘stopping them and getting Eden back’.
A: That’s a really good question, it could be a character we haven’t met yet. But it could also be a character from the past, with egoistic intentions, like Angelina.
E: First, that’s such a typical Eagan move haha. But it’s definitely Angelina. Who else would want it and knows its existence? We saw Eden with Ben’s (Josh Dallas) phone. She could’ve called Angelina.
Q: Zeke (Matt Long) and Mick (Melissa Roxburgh) celebrating their anniversary and inviting Jared (J.R. Ramirez) while he’s at their place. Do you think Jared has truly closed this chapter with Mick?
R: I hope Jared is truly happy with Drea. He deserves this. Maybe it’s still hard for him to watch them together from time to time. However, I hope he knows what Drea (Ellen Tamaki) can give him. They seem like a pretty cute couple, and I’m not just saying this because I’m team Zeke and Mick. I want everyone to be happy, it doesn’t matter with whom it is in the end. They already went through enough.
M: I think he will always love and care for and about Michaela. But I do think he really tried to put all the work in himself, accepting that this is Michaela, her choice, and move on. I am however still not sold on Drea and Jared. I just don’t like the whole Michaela, her best friend, with her ex storyline for the second time. From all the love interests Jared has, both Lourdes (Victoria Cartagena) and Drea are my least favorite love interests for Jared. Knowing how they teased the Zekaela/Jachaela love triangle before the season started, I don’t think their chapter closed. I have no idea how they want to do it, however, because Michaela and Zeke are happily married, and Jared truly seems like he’s moved on.
A: It definitely seems like that, considering his speech and everything. But I think Jared will never truly close this chapter with Mick. We’ve already seen in the past few episodes that they still have so much chemistry. I’m sure he is happy for Mick, and maybe even for Zeke, but I still think there’s hope for Jachaela somehow.
E: He does, but he also doesn’t. He will always care about Mick. He seems happy with Drea though. When you’re at that point in your life when you want to marry someone, and you didn’t get the chance to do that. You can’t get rid of those feelings very easily. Jared knows Michaela is happy with Zeke, he wants and needs to respect that. His chapter with Michaela will never be closed. His love for Michaela was and is way too big for that. I love the fact that he still wants to be in Michaela’s life. He wants to be there for her. Many would just turn their backs because they feel betrayed. Jared never gives up.
