Manifest is a supernatural drama television series created by Jeff Rake. The final season (Season 4) aired on Netflix on November 4, 2022. Let’s discuss Episode 6 of Manifest called “Relative Bearing”. Joining me (Rike) are Mandy, Anna Maria and Evi. Are you ready for this one? Let’s go then, but don’t forget to fasten your seatbelt before starting to read this.
Q: Jared (J.R. Ramirez) questioning his moral compass. Do you agree with what Vance (Daryl Edwards) did for him talking about the gun?
R: Sometimes you need to hide the truth and work in the “gray” area to protect yourself. Jared already lost a lot, and I’m happy Vance is helping him out and tries to protect him as much as possible. They’re all a big family, and I love to see that. Always having each other’s back. Vance already went through a lot himself, so I think now he’s reached a point where he’s like “You know what? Let’s do this!”.
M: I can understand Jared’s view of wanting to do the right thing and being honest, but I can also understand where Vance is coming from. Wanting to protect Jared, because he already lost too much, and if they lose Jared, they’ll lose huge help too. I think they’ll need Jared’s help in the future for whatever is going to play out. I love that Vance is trying his best to help Jared out, and I can definitely see him working for Vance.
A: It’s not always easy to know how to do the right thing. I do think Vance did the right thing in this situation, though. Doing what Vance did for Jared, no one had to take the blame. And in the end, it wasn’t Jared who did it anyway. I like what Vance did to protect Jared, it’s nice to see. It’s also understandable that Jared wanted to be honest, though, he’s probably tired of lying and hiding stuff. But he’s a good guy, and it wouldn’t be right if he was degraded or fired because of what happened.
E: Vance is such a strong man, I love him. He’s helping everyone out there, even when he went through a lot himself. He’s very smart, and he knows his way around the government. I love seeing him care about Jared. Everything he does is for the Stones and for the 828 passengers. So yes, I believe Vance. His actions are always with good intentions.
Q: Who do you think is the killer? Could it be Noelle Meyer (Heidi Armbruster) now that she’s part of the show again?
R: I think this one would be too easy for a show like Manifest. Yes, she looks like some kind of person who could do something like that, but no. Right now, I believe we haven’t seen the killer yet. But it’s definitely not looking good for all 828er. A killer on the loose is the worst thing. I hope this person can be stopped before it’s too late and before anyone else gets killed.
M: On the one hand, yes it could be. It would definitely explain why Angelina (Holly Taylor) is so nuts, but on the other hand, I feel like it could also be something way bigger and darker. Someone who’s not in touch with any of the passengers and hates them for some reason. Like the X’ers, but someone else.
A: This is a tough question. I actually have no idea. It could be someone we are already introduced to, or it could be a new character. I don’t think it’s Angelina’s mother though. I hope not too many 828’ers won’t be killed, and definitely not one of our main characters.
E: That would be way too obvious. She is capable of being the killer, though. I have no clue who it could be. Maybe it’s a total stranger.
Q: Cal (Ty Doran) calling Angelina, and with that he’s somehow destroying his progress with his father. Do you think he should have known better?
R: In the end, deep down he’s still a child and was just trying to help. He didn’t think of all the bad things which could have happened. He just wanted Eden to believe her father is a good guy. Cal wanted his father to be fully happy again. Yes, he has his daughter back, but seeing her not accepting him must be devastating and heartbreaking. Eden only had Angelina for the last few years. She doesn’t know anyone else. This will definitely take some time. I like to believe that it will all work out in the end. Ben (Josh Dallas) just needs to be patient, even though this is the hardest thing.
M: No. He may have grown up psychically, but mentally he’s still that little boy who wants to help in any way he can. He probably was desperate and didn’t know a better way to help than this one. He feels such a huge responsibility for what happened that he’ll do everything he can to make things better.
A: He should have known that Ben would be pissed off about that, but he was also trying to help the situation, and he is still a kid. His relationship with his dad hasn’t been easy for the past few years, and I think he saw this as a possibility to heal it further. He definitely trusts Angelina more than Ben, and it looks like he has some sort of connection with her. I understand why Cal would do this, but I also understand why Ben was angry at him.
E: Cal is still trying to find things out, he’s trying. He wants to help his father, and calling Angelina was with good intentions. Cal and Angelina are connected in some way we don’t understand. I have a feeling that he still cares about her despite everything.
